Deeds Not Words!!!
Back in 1982 my parents flipped the bill and I was a official member of the Star Wars Fan Club.
The fan club membership included 8"x10" glossy prints of the cast and some scenes from Empire, and Jedi, also you got a subscription to the Bantha Tracks newsletter. I have woven patches that came with the membership and I posted them up on my IG account but since then I have put them back in storage.
I would tape these prints up on my walls in my bedroom and stare at them all the time.
Here was an exclusive item to be had Revenge Of The Jedi poster and patch. This for many of you know was the OG title until it was realized that no Jedi would ever seek revenge.
Always wanted the Skywalker jacket but couldn't get my parents to spring for it.
When things with Star Wars would slow down due to other films such as Indiana Jones the newsletter would cover that.
Didn't want anyone to jack my Bantha Tracks so I had to sign it.
This concept seems so ancient now, well it is really compared to today's standards. This was the only way the hard core fans could get info at the time. News letters and magazines were the real source of information on your favorite films and related topics. In some ways I kinda miss this, but even I have grown to expect instant information on any given topic and any given moment.
