Friday night was the invite only opening of Obey Your Master at Exhibit A Gallery.
Not gonna lie I was pretty nervous about this opening. I have shown at Exhibit A Gallery several times before but this was by far the largest show I have been involved in. So Katrina, Gunner and I headed west and got to the gallery just before artist check in.

One of the cakes for the night

Gunner was rocking his Half Cabs so I had to have him take a photo with the man himself Steve Caballero!

So the artist and the band got 2 hours before the invited guest arrived. This gave time for everyone to mingle and talk shop. I did just that and because of that I really didn't get many photos. But here we go

Nate Van Dyke

Up close with Richard Villa III's piece

Travis Smith - this piece is crazy I asked him about it. He creates a analog collage then scans it and creates a digital piece of art. I think it's pretty awesome!

Shawn Barber

This piece is crazy! Oils the artist did it in 15 days at 10-12 hours per day. Photo will not do it justice must be seen in person!

Travis Louie

Usugrow - Rumor was he was gonna fly in, but he didn't would have been nice to see him again.

Crazy video sculpture piece

Brian M. Viveros - Brian did his piece on And Justice For All. It's sick!

Andy Sixx - BVB

Photo is not the best but trust me this piece is out of control!

So everyone in the show including the band took a group photo. I of course had my camera in my back pocket so Katrina didn't get a shot of that. But here is the aftermath and the beginning of the craze.

Let's not forget why we are a part of this show. We are fans of the music and the band. So I did my fan thing and got a photo with Kirk Hammett.

The other cake made it's way to the table.

This was the mega highlight of the night for me personally. James Hetfield, Gunner in front of my piece. I was totally thinking if the 14 year old me would have known this was gonna happen?

So here is my piece for the show, The Four Horsemen from Kill' Em All.

This show was a concept in the back of Richard Villa III's mind about a year and a half ago. And he would mention it every so often saying it could happen. But last October when he called me and said it was truly happening I couldn't believe it. The fact I was selected was an honor and then the next thing hit me. What will I create for this show? Well lucky for me I was able to pick a song I really loved and had a blast making my piece. Thanks again to Exhibit A Gallery, Richard Villa III, Catharina Petersen, and of course Tony Alva.
If your in the area please check out the show it's up till March 23rd.
Keep your eyes peeled for another rock inspired show in the future at Exhibit A Gallery.
Words can't even describe how stoked I am for you, buddy. What an incredible honor and experience it had to be. SO. SICK. Super proud of you, dude.
